A toad called Chicken

By Monica Brand, 19 June, 2009, No Comment

toad found in backyard this morning

The larger toad is named Chicken. Why? No, it’s not because a toad might taste like chicken (you cruel people! we love our backyard critters). Our new friend really does sound like a baby chicken with the (surprisingly loud) chirping sound she makes.

I wonder what Susan named the little one?

Chick, perhaps?

In this house, we welcome spring not with flowers

But by the first catch of critters. Welcome back, all that swim and squirm in our creek! We missed you!

Anyone else welcome spring like we do, with salamanders and crayfish swimming in a plastic container in the kitchen?

My house, where Webkinz reign supreme

By Monica Brand, 5 February, 2009, 3 Comments

Has your house been over run with these stuffed critters? My tribe loves them. On the computer in the virtual world and in their bedrooms – it’s nonstop Webkinz. Today they made little paper guitars, keyboard and drums made of plastic cups for their toys to rock out. Click on the picture to enlarge.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these aren’t-my-kids-adorable-and-creative posts, so here we are. A cute picture of my tribe. (By the way, if anyone can give me a quick tutorial in plain English how to remove red eye with Gimp, I’d be grateful.)
