What I’m reading
I have three books next to the bedside at the moment, one fiction, one a how-to book and the third, a book of essays.
I’m almost ashamed to admit I’ve never read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Saw the movie version in high school, loved it, always wanted to read the novel. Life happened. Finally I’m reading it. When I’m finished, I want to pick up the memoir about Lee’s life.
From Clutter to Clarity by Nancy Twigg is a welcome blogging perk. Wave a free book in front of me and you bet I’ll take it. The subtitle is “simplifying life from the inside out.” Who doesn’t need to simplify? (Twigg also happens to be a home school mom. Go home schooling mama-writers!)
I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley. A series of essays by a young New Yorker. A wonderful storyteller, is Crosley. Beware the naughty words.

I’ve never read To Kill a Mockingbird either and it’s on my list for the 1% Well Read Challenge. I used the same words as you…ashamed to never have read it!

Mockingbird ranks up there as a fave of mine. What I love is what I get from reading it again … and again at different ages/stages of my life. I love a book that can make me see with new eyes again and again.
Hope you like it!

Mon! Snap has missed you!
I just read TKAM last year. I guess I read it in school. It did intrigue me.
And clutter–I could always use some help with clutter.

Personally, I think reading “classics” like “To Kill a Mockingbird” are better read when we are older. Don’t ya think? or maybe they just bring different perspectives at different ages…
whichever…it’s a good book.

Debbie, I agree. Reading is so much more richer an experience when you have a lifetime of your own to bring to the book. Good point.

As a high school English teacher, I’m ashamed that some teacher in your experience played a movie without first reading the book!

I just read To Kill a Mockingbird this past year. Now I understand why it is what it is.
I’m glad I didn’t read it earlier in life.
